  • Only Avent gives you a flexible infant feeding system so choosing your baby's feeding method is as easy as integrating the products that work for you. The innovation behind the Avent Feeding System lets you switch easily between breast, bottle, or cup--or use all three.

Product innovation has also led to unique clinical discoveries. The Avent Isis™ Breast Pump has been clinically proven to be as effective as an electric pump with added comfort. The infant feeding Avent reusable bottle with a unique patented Avent infant feeding nipple has been clinically demonstrated to reduce colic. The natural design of Avent products makes it easy to choose the best infant feeding method for you and your baby--which is why Avent is the doctor-recommended choice for mothers in more than 70 countries.

Avent was launched in England in 1984 to help resolve a familiar parental challenge: trying to bottle feed their breastfed son. Using an engineering background, the Avent inventor developed a nipple that functioned more like a mother's breast. This natural shape encouraged a wide-open mouth when feeding, so the baby suckled the bottle--just as in breastfeeding. His invention became the Avent Nipple. Avent continued to improve the revolutionary shape of the Avent Nipple by adding a patented one-way air valve. The result: a nipple that works with the Avent Reusable Bottle to reduce colic.

Next, Avent modified the traditional baby bottle shape. At the time, the infant feeding market only offered tall, thin bottles. Avent was the first to introduce a short, wide-necked infant feeding bottle that was easier to hold and clean. This innovative shape also made the infant feeding bottle stable and less prone to tipping. With the specially designed Avent Nipple, the Avent Bottle combined form and function to best fit a baby's feeding needs. These benefits, along with the quality materials that go into manufacturing all Avent products, made the Avent Bottle a trendsetter for the infant feeding market--and the best choice for bottle feeding babies.

In 1997 Avent introduced the Isis Breast Pump, giving mothers flexibility when continuing to breastfeed. Combining soft cushion 'petals' and a silicone diaphragm, the Isis was designed to stimulate let-down and mimic a baby's suckling. In fact, when compared with a hospital grade electric pump in a recent clinical study, the Isis achieved the same or better results--with greater ease and comfort. Plus, the Isis is more quiet and portable than electric pumps, allowing mothers to discreetly express milk.

With its special design, the Isis Breast Pump can integrate the other Avent products. Mothers can express breast milk directly into the Reusable Bottle, the Disposable Nurser, or the Magic™ Cup for ultimate convenience and flexibility. This product integration was the first of its kind--and it remains a distinct advantage of using the Avent Feeding System.

Avent introduced the Magic™ Cup in 2000. The Magic Cup features a unique patented valve that prevents messy spills, yet can handle thick liquids and pulpy juices. And its soft spout is easier to sip from--so even babies as young as three months can use a cup. Avent continued its vision of a fully-integrated infant feeding system and designed the Magic Cup so that mothers can express breast milk directly into it using the Isis Breast Pump. Avent designed attachable trainer handles and age-specific spouts for the Magic Cup, allowing it to grow with a child--giving mothers added value and convenience.

Today, Avent is the most popular infant feeding system in over 70 countries worldwide, and the fastest growing baby care brand in America. To learn more about the Avent Feeding System, shop the Avent products at BabyCatalog.com.
