In 1952, Dick Kelty, a carpenter, builder, and avid outdoorsman, started making backpacks for his friends in the Sierra Club for $24 dollars each. His friends were grateful. These $24.00 packs revolutionized backpacking, implementing for the first time Kelty's ideas of a hip belt and lighter aluminum frames. Soon, Kelty and his friends were exploring the Sierra Nevada region with heavy loads, no shoulder pain, going farther, longer, and happier into the wilderness than ever before.
Five years later, Dick Kelty quit his carpentry business to start an outdoor gear company. Staked out in an old garage, he welded aluminum tubes into frames while his wife, Nena, cut, sewed, and fitted the pack bags. Today, Kelty gear promises the same dedication to innovation and getting outdoors that Dick Kelty had forty-eight years ago. Kelty started as a company making it easier for friends to enjoy the wilderness, and that's what they still do.
Kelty K.I.D.S. offers all of the excellent quality and craftsmanship of the wilderness line to the parents on the go. While you can use the Kelty child carriers for hiking and camping and are designed for those uses, they are also an excellent choice for shopping, traveling, walking and anywhere you would like to go as a family and bring your child but a stroller isn't practical.
Kelty offers backpack child carriers and soft baby front carriers. Backpack carriers come with features like an auto-deploy kickstand, a 5-point safety harness, a no-pinch hinge, reflective trim, toy attachment loops, Scherer Cinch waist belt system, Nylon Nylex shoulder harness (kids), a sternum strap, a removable back pouch, load lifer adjustments and a 4" suspension track waist belt adjustment.

Service under our warranty is available to the original purchaser by returning the product to any authorized Kelty dealer or by contacting our customer service department ".
