Mugwumps, LLC special fabrics, Solarknit and Tri-Blend by SPF®, have a UPF rating of over 40, the highest rating of "Excellent". They have been tested and are approved for use as solar protection by the FTC and Consumer Products Safety Commission for sun protection. The fabrics look and feel like the soft cotton knits our everyday clothes are made of. Solarknit is 100% cotton, knit jersey. The Tri-blend is a blend of 46% cotton, 46% Polyester and 8% Spandex to make it soft, smooth and hold its shape. A chemical sun block has been woven into the fabrics to provide the additional protection necessary for the tender and vulnerable skin of children. The specially treated fabric blocks UVA and UVB rays to protect from sunburn and keep your baby cool on even the brightest, sunniest summer day. Not only do the fabrics work to keep the skin cool in hot weather but also to keep the skin warm in cool weather, making the products very versatile.
Every bolt of SPF® fabric is tested to ensure that the UPF rating is equal to or greater than the highest possible rating of Excellent indicating a UPF of 40+ and that it remains fully protective for over forty washings which is about two years of typical use and laundering. Typical laundering is all that is required. Machine wash cold and tumble dry. Do not use bleach or dry clean.
"Mugwumps, LLC" In case you are wondering, among other definitions, came from a term of endearment that the company founders use for our little ones...the inspiration for their products. The name is meant to impart a sense of playfulness and remind us all of the little darlings that inspire the product line.
